On 25 March 2012 the carrier Estonian Air resumed flights from Tallinn to Riga and back that would take place 17 times a week. Estonian Air has scheduled flights on this route three times a day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and once a day – on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Ground Handling Department of Riga International Airport last year achieved the highest peak in its history in terms of the quality of services rendered to passengers and aircraft. In 2011 the Ground Handling Department of Riga International Airport by providing good quality professional services to airlines raised its punctuality ratio to 99.76 per cent enabling its passengers to reach their destinations on time and successfully accomplish their tasks. In the aviation industry this result is considered excellent. Internationally and in comparison with other European airports Riga Airport has joined the leading airports of Europe.
On 27 March 2012 the carrier Ryanair opened a new destination Karlsruhe/ Baden-Baden in Germany. The flights on the new route are performed by Boeing-738 aircraft three times a week – on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and the duration of the flight is 2 hours and 10 minutes.

On 1 April the environment advertising company JCDecaux Latvija signed an exclusive 10-year advertising contract with Riga International Airport on the management of the airport’s advertising space and placement of advertising objects.
