In the tender announced by SJSC RIGA International Airport to select a partner for the infrastructure development project several companies with great international experience have been invited to submit their offers for participation in a joint venture with the airport.


From 9 to 10 September the leading aviation forum in the region of Europe ‒ the European Airport Development Conference 2008 (EAD08) is being held in Riga. The conference is arranged by the aviation journal „International Airport Review” jointly with RIGA International Airport.


Since 4 of September the passengers can check in for a flight at RIGA International Airport at self-check-in kiosks. Currently the new self-check-in service is available to the clients of “airBaltic”, ”Lufthansa”, “KLM”, “Austrian Airlines” and “Finnair” whereas by the end of the year the passengers of other airlines will be able to use the kiosks if those airlines are ready to provide a web check–in service.


In September The European Airport Development Conference 2008 (EAD08) will be held in Riga, which is one of the leading forums in the aviation industry in Europe. The conference is organized by the aviation magazine International Airport Review and hosted by RIGA International Airport.


Following the resolution of the International Air Transport Association and its strategy of simplifying the business, RIGA International Airport has introduced the system of bar-coded boarding passes (BCBP).


Starting August 13 of this year, the Latvian airline airBaltic will allow people who take flights from Liepaja to check in via the Internet. Previously this had only been possible for airBaltic flights departing from Riga, Ventspils, Vilnius, Vienna, Zurich, Bergen, Stavanger, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.


The new service - Twilight Check–in is available to the passengers of airBaltic from the beginning of August. The passengers may check in for a flight and hand in their luggage in the evening before the departure day from 19:00 to 22:00, receive the boarding pass and on the next day just go through the security screening to their departure gate.


Riga – on October 24 of this year, airBaltic will begin direct flights from Riga to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.


Riga. Beginning on August 4, airline passengers in Latvia will have a wider choice of destinations in Africa and Europe, because a code-share agreement between airBaltic and Brussels Airlines will take effect on that day.


Riga – on October 26 of this year, airBaltic will begin direct flights from Riga to the Dutch capital city of Amsterdam.
