At Riga Airport Flight Frequency will Soar in the Summer Season

In the summer flight schedule of Riga International Airport the frequency of flights will increase by 35 percent compared with the winter season. There will be more flights to such destinations as Helsinki, Tallinn, Vilnius, Moscow, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and other.

In March the carrier Estonian Air will return to Riga Airport with 17 flights a week to/from Tallinn (Estonia).
The airline Ryanair will open a route to Karlsruhe (Baden-Baden) in Germany with a frequency of three flights a week.
In April the carrier Norwegian will commence flights to the capital of Sweden Stockholm and in May – to the capital of Denmark Copenhagen.

„Lufthansa will carry passengers to the Germany’s biggest airport in Frankfurt twice a day thus offering them more convenient connections for further trips. airBaltic will resume flights to one of the most demanded destinations - Dublin,” said Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of Riga International Airport.

Traffic will be also opened to Athens, Baku, Dublin, Nice, Venice and Simferopol, while Turkish Airlines will carry passengers to the holiday destination Antalya.

In the summer season the airline Uzbekistan Airways will perform flights to New York twice a week, Finnair will increase the number of flights to Helsinki and Wizz Air will provide more trips to Luton Airport (London).

„This, as well as the last year, has seen an increasing number of travellers flying to the capital of Russia Moscow. The city has taken a firm second place in terms of the number of passengers. Therefore the flight frequency on the route Riga – Moscow has been raised significantly – to 55 flights a week performed by such airlines as Aeroflot, UTair, Transaero and airBaltic,”  A.Luhse pointed out, adding that “still, the passengers of Riga Airport for several years have given their greatest preference to London as their destination.”

Currently from Riga Airport flights to 78 different destinations are provided by 16 carriers operating at the airport.

Please remember that this weekend the clocks in Latvia will be turned to the summer daylight saving time, one hour ahead. Therefore the passengers are asked to arrive at the airport on time so as not to miss their flights.

Riga International Airport is the biggest air traffic hub in the Baltic states. In the first two months of 2012 Riga Airport has welcomed more than 600 passengers or four percent more than in the corresponding period of the year 2011.
