20 Years of Czech Airlines’ at Riga Airport

In March 2012 the Czech carrier Czech Airlines looked back at twenty years of operations at Riga International Airport. The passengers of the arriving and departing jubilee flight were pleasantly surprised by the celebrations of the twentieth anniversary in Riga by the airline and the airport.

On 21 March the aircraft arriving from Prague was welcomed with water christening and the arriving and departing passengers received the collection of sweets RIGA by Pure Chocolate with a dedication. Before departing the passengers enjoyed a cake made especially for this event.

Czech Airlines was founded in October 1923 as the national carrier of Czechoslovakia.
• 1929. Member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
• 1947. By opening direct routes to Cairo and Ankara acquires the status of a transcontinental airline.
• 1992. Flights commenced from Riga International Airport.
• 1996. Cooperation started with Continental Airlines.
• 2000. Sale of tickets started on the airline’s website.
• 2001. Joining Sky Team alliance.
