TAV Latvia Opens the Renovated Commercial Areas at Riga Airport

On 5 March the Turkish company ATU at Riga Airport opened a new shopping area of 1307 m2 with 15 shops.

At the opening event Mr Ersan Arkan, Head of ATU, said that more than two million euros or 1.4 million lats had been invested in the renovation and modernisation works.

Mr Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of the airport, pointed out that due to entrusting of the commercial space to the private operator the airport’s non-aviation income had reached approximately 57 percent of total revenues, which allowed the airport to offer the airlines good quality service for competitive prices.

Mr Aivis Ronis, Minister of Transport, stressed that cooperation of Riga Airport and TAV Airports Holding was a good example of cooperation between Latvia and Turkey. Thanks to the Turkish company, the airport develops in the right direction to become a major air traffic hub in the region with a potential of becoming a big transit centre.
