Riga Airport to Launch 12 New Summer Destinations


Low-cost airline Wizz Air is opening its Riga base in June. Along with the opening of the base the airline will open 4 new routes: from Riga to Barcelona, Doncaster Sheffield, Dortmund, and Paris (Beauvais) as well as increase flight frequency to London (Luton) and Oslo (Torp).
Whereas the national carrier airBaltic will open flights to Aberdeen, UK in March, Gothenburg, Sweden and Burgas, Bulgaria in April and Palma de Mallorca, Bucharest, and Varna in June. Additionally, airBaltic has increased the number of flights in 14 routes: from Riga to Amsterdam, Athens, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Kiev, Larnaca, London (Gatwick), Moscow (Domodedovo), Olbia, Palanga, Prague, and Tbilisi. AirBaltic will fly from Riga to St. Petersburg 17 times a week.
Aditionally, a new carrier is expected at Riga International Airport. It will offer new charter flights to Corfu, Greece in association with Mouzenidis Travel tour operator. There will be more flights to Warsaw (LOT) as well as Copenhagen and Oslo (Norwegian).
In summer the flight frequency will experience a 27% growth compared to the winter season.
There are 83 direct summer flights from Riga Airport operated by the following airlines: airBaltic, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Aeroflot, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Finnair, Uzbekistan Airways, LOT, Utair, Transaero, Belavia, Turkish Airlines, Onur Air, Utair Ukraine, Ellinair, SmartLynx.
