Stricter passenger baggage checks in the European airports

Riga International Airport reminds the passengers that as of 1 March, the requirements of the new EU Regulation regarding the passengers’ carry-on baggage have come into force.

The passengers must be aware that it may take a longer time to pass the security check at the European airports, yet there is no reason for concern. At the request of the airport security staff, some of the passengers will be asked to surrender their carry-on baggage for a more detailed examination.

These additional security requirements have been introduced with the aim to improve flight safety. In order to settle the necessary formalities before the flights, the passengers are requested to arrive at the airport two hours before their scheduled departure.

It should be noted that the information regarding the baggage check is classified by Regulation (EU) No 187/2015.
