Discussion of the Developments in the Aviation Industry

On 2 December 2015, the aviation industry representatives at Riga Airport discussed the possibility of creation of a cooperation platform. Mr Thomas Gierlich, the representative of the aviation cluster bavAIRia shared his experience.

In the spring of 2015, Riga International airport and the national carrier airBaltic arranged a discussion on the aviation industry development scenarios drafted by   Boston Consulting Group. Over the last six months, several meetings have been held with the companies whose business activities depend on the development of the aviation industry in order to find out what is required for successful business development.  With a view of effective solution of the issues existing in the industry and promotion of cooperation, Riga Airport invited the partners to discuss the future steps in the joint efforts dedicated to the progress of the Latvian aviation industry. 
Andris Liepiņš, chairman of the board of Riga International Airport presented to the participants the airport business strategy for the period until 2036 and the business plan for the period until 2020.  Artūrs Kokars, advisor to the chairman of the board in his turn informed the participants of the dialog with the industry representatives established in the last six months, involvement of the airport in problem solving and the prospects of cooperation.  

The event was attended by Mr Thomas Gierlich, the representative of the Bavarian aviation cluster (Germany) who told the audience of the activities of the cluster.
