 VAT Refund at RIGA International Airport (Tax Refund)

           

If your permanent home state is outside the European Union (EU) and your destination is also outside the EU, you are entitled to a refund of the Value Added Tax (VAT) for the goods purchased at Riga International Airport. You only have to present your Global Blue Tax Free Cheque together with the purchase receipt.Before leaving Riga International Airport (the Airport), the cheque, as well as the purchased goods must be declared to an officer of the Customs of the Republic of Latvia (the Customs) who will check them and mark the purchase receipt.

If you intend to put the purchased goods in the registered luggage, before the luggage is dropped off, inform the agent servicing your flight’s check-in desk  that you need to formalise the VAT refund.The agent will call for the Customs officer who will check the goods and mark the purchase receipts.

After purchase receipts are marked take them to the Eurex Capital currency exchange point in the Airport’s duty-free zone to finalise the money refund.

If you intend to carry the purchased goods in your hand luggage , go to Eurex Capital exchange point in the Airport’s duty-free zone.Their employees will call for the Customs officer who will check the goods right there on the spot and will mark the receipts.Thus you will be able to finalise the money refund.
