Information on taxes and charges levied on departing passengers at RIGA International Airport

Taxes and charges levied on departing passengers at RIGA International Airport are governed by the following laws and regulations – Law of Republic of Latvia on Aviation, Law of Republic of Latvia on Value added tax and the Cabinet Regulations No.991 (published in ”Latvijas Vēstnesis”, 201 (3569), 05.12.2006.). Please note that other countries and/or airports as well as airlines may impose taxes or fees that will also be shown on your ticket.

Security charge

Security charge is levied on each departing passenger from RIGA International Airport. This charge will be shown coded as 'LV' in the section TAXES/FEES/CHARGES of your ticket.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

Should your itinerary include a domestic flight (i.e., for travel wholly within Latvia), VAT 5% will be collected at point of sale and shown coded as 'IY' in the section TAXES/FEES/CHARGES of your ticket.

If your flight is international and you will cross the border of the Republic of Latvia, VAT 0% will be levied on your ticket. Infants and transit passengers are exempt from this charge.
