Taking into account the epidemiologists' assessment of the growing risks of Covid-19 spread, state of emergency has been declared in Latvia from 9 November to 6 December, imposing strict health safety measures, while guaranteeing the fundamental rights of people and access to basic needs.

The order declaring state of emergency does not currently provide for more extensive restrictions on the operations of Riga Airport.

As before, international passenger services are allowed to and from countries where the spread of Covid-19 infection is known not to pose a serious risk to public health, as well as to certain third countries according to the European Commission's list of safe countries. This means that international passenger carriage is not provided to countries where the cumulative 14-day morbidity rate per 100 000 inhabitants is twice the average of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.

When arriving in Latvia from countries where the cumulative 14-day morbidity rate per 100 thousand inhabitants exceeds 50, passengers must observe mandatory 10-day self-isolation.

The list of countries is available on the website of the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

More information on the restrictions set during the emergency is available on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
