To ensure the continuity of the company's management in the conditions of crisis, the Supervisory Board of SJSC “Riga International Airport” has appointed the current Member of the Supervisory Board Laila Odiņa as the Chairperson of the Board.
Laila Odiņa will manage Riga Airport until the new Chairperson of the Airport Board is elected through a competition.
"In this emergency, the Airport cannot be left without a manager - an energetic, knowledgeable and experienced person is needed, whose main task will be to lead the company out of the crisis. The Airport will never be the same again and the rebuilding of the company will have to start from the very beginning. I am convinced that Laila Odiņa is the most suitable candidate for this position until the new Airport manager is selected,” says Juris Kanels, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Airport.
Laila Odiņa is an aviation professional with long-term experience in the industry, including international companies. She has been working at the Airport’s Supervisory Board since April 2018. Prior to that, Odiņa was the Chief Operating Officer of the national airline “airBaltic”, the Chief Operating Officer of “UTAir Airlines JSC” and the Chief Executive Officer of “Azerbaijan Airlines JSC”. Laila Odiņa is also a Member of the Board of the Institute of Transport and Communication.
As reported before, Ilona Līce, the long-term manager of Riga Airport, has announced her resignation due to health reasons.
