The state of emergency in Latvia has been extended until 9 June

In order to control the spread of the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19, the Latvian government has decided to extend the state of emergency until 9 June, including travel restrictions and the suspension of international passenger traffic.

Consequently, international passenger flights to and from Riga Airport will not take place until further government orders, except for special repatriation flights, for which a permit is issued by the Minister of Transport. The full list of permitted flights can be found on the website of the Ministry of Transport.

Riga Airport will continue to operate to a limited extent during the period of emergency, handling cargo, business aviation flights, domestic and technical flights, as well as repatriation flights permitted by the Minister of Transport.

The Airport encourages passengers on return flights to use their personal transport to get to and from the Airport as much as possible. Persons meeting and seeing off passengers should only go to the Airport, if the passenger needs special assistance. Passengers who do not have their own transport to get home should follow the instructions of the Airport staff and choose the special buses that will be available in the bus lane in the P1 short-term car park.

Only passengers are allowed to enter the Airport terminal, therefore those meeting passengers are encouraged to stay in their vehicles outside the terminal. The Airport reminds that you can park your vehicle free of charge for the first 10 minutes in the short-term car park P1.

When staying at the Airport, we urge passengers to be responsible, to keep a distance of 2 metres, both from each other and from the Airport staff, and to observe other safety measures. Free hand sanitizer stands are available for passengers in the Airport terminal.

Arriving passengers who suspect that they might be ill are advised to consult the medical staff who will be available before entering the baggage reclaim halls E and C.

The Airport reminds that all passengers returning from abroad must observe a 14-day quarantine period.

In order to save resources during the period of crisis, the Airport terminal is mostly closed to visitors; therefore, the Airport encourages passengers to solve all issues related to ticket booking, flight transfers, compensation for cancelled flights etc. remotely by contacting their airline.
