Traffic flow will temporarily changeas Rail Baltica construction works continue at Riga Airport

28/06/2022

As of June 27, general partnership B.S.L. Infra, continuing the construction works of Rail Baltica near Riga Airport, will temporarily change the traffic flow away from the airport towards the centre of Riga. At the location where the bus stop of "Rīgas Satiksme” bus No 22 is currently located, traffic will be diverted via a temporary route through the P1 parking lot with a small detour for the duration of about 3 weeks.

The changes are shown schematically in the figure below https://failiem.lv/u/zwy4rsks8 Drivers are kindly requested to follow the signs, and both passengers and drivers should take extra care!

The temporary carriageway will run through the P1 parking area and the lane will be marked accordingly. The works will take about three weeks and, once completed, the carriageway will be resurfaced and the previous traffic organisation will be restored. The changes will result in a slight reduction of the public P1 car park, but this should not cause significant changes for airport visitors. Airport passengers will be able to use the car park as usual, and taxi and bus access to the terminal arrivals area will not be disrupted.

On the P133 before the airport, the previously announced construction works have been successfully completed and the traffic flow has been restored to its previous order, with two full lanes available in both directions. Planned construction works on Biroju and Muzeju Streets are still ongoing.
