Compared with the last winter season of 2007/2008, ten more direct destinations are added to the new winter flight schedule.
Despite the controversial information regarding the situation in the global airline industry, the winter season of 2008/2009 in terms of the geography of routes will be most diverse in the history of the airport.
Until the new flight schedule entering into force at the end of March 2009, the airlines Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Aer Lingus and EasyJet have confirmed their intention to discontinue flights from/to RIX in the winter season. The passengers will not suffer from this decision because alternative flight opportunities will be provided by other carriers operating in RIX.
In winter 2008/2009 the following carriers will fly from Riga International Airport: airBaltic, SmartLynx, Lufthansa, Finnair, Ryanair, KLM, LOT, Czech Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Uzbekistan Airways.
