A new record has been achieved in the history of RIGA International Airport – more than 15 000 passengers handled in one day. The number of travellers in the Easter holidays rose by one quarter to 67 394 with the punctuality ratio of 99 percent, as shown by the RIGA airport data on air passenger traffic in the period from 1 to 5 April.

On 2 and 5 April the number of passengers at RIGA International Airport exceeded the limit of 15 000 passengers handled per day. At no other time in its history has the airport served such a number of passengers.

35 percent of the passengers had chosen RIGA International Airport as a transfer or transit airport. The most popular destinations in the Easter Holidays were London, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm and Frankfurt.

Despite the record numbers of passengers, RIGA International Airport attained excellent results both in terms of airline and passenger service quality. They were reflected by the punctuality ratio that in the period from 1 to 5 April stood at 99 percent. The airport can be proud to have one of the highest service results achieved among the European airports. Such service standards were reached thanks to the professionalism, great sense of responsibility of the staff and timely planning of resources in anticipation of the soaring passenger numbers.

In the summer season of 2010 the traffic from RIGA International Airport will be provided by the following airlines: airBaltic, SmartLynx, Lufthansa, Finnair, Ryanair, LOT, Czech Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Uzbekistan Airways, WizzAir, WindJet, Belavia, TAROM, City Airline.
