From January to the end of September 2011 the airport has welcomed almost four million passengers as compared with 3.6 million in 2010. Thus passenger traffic in the nine months of 2011 has exceeded last year’s result for the corresponding period by 11 percent.
„September, too, saw the increase in the number of passengers and aircraft handled at the airport. Travellers from Riga Airport mostly went to such destinations as London, Moscow and Helsinki,” said Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of Riga International Airport.
In September the airport welcomed six percent or 27.5 thousand more passengers year on year. The number of aircraft handled in September rose by four percent compared with September 2010.
