Today, on 18 July, Riga International Airport welcomed its seven millionth transit/transfer passenger since the restoration of Latvia’s independence – Hari Adhikari, who arrived at the airport on an airBaltic flight from Munich to Riga.

„Thanks to our national carrier airBaltic our airport is a transit hub,” said Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of Riga International Airport, „and transit/transfer passengers account for a significant share in the passenger structure of Riga Airport.”

The management of Riga International Airport presented the 7 millionth passenger with an invitation for two persons to visit the airport’s business lounge five times within a year, and with the airport souvenirs.

It should be added that Riga International Airport in the first six months of 2012 has welcomed 2 243 575 passengers, of which 791 075 were transit/transfer passengers. The most popular transit/transfer destinations from Riga Airport this year have been Vilnius, Tallinn, Helsinki, Moscow and Kiev.

In 2011 the airport handled 5.1 million air travellers, of which 1.9 million were transfer/transit passengers.
