The airport security charge can also be paid in the self-service kiosks

20/07/2012

We are pleased to inform the passengers of the carrier Ryanair that now they can also pay Riga Airport security charge in two self-service kiosks installed in the departure halls E and C close to the passenger security checkpoints. Payment can be made by a bank card.

In the first six months of 2012 the airport has collected 2.1 million lats in revenues from security charge. These funds have been allocated to finance the operations of the Security Department and security-related investment projects. The money is spent for the wages and training of the personnel, provision and maintenance of transport, communications, purchase of materials and spare parts for x-ray machines and other security equipment. Equally, funding is required for purchase of baggage x-ray machines, archway metal detectors, explosives detection systems etc. to meet the existing security standards that are constantly being modified and upgraded.

We wish to remind the passengers that as of 1st January 2012 a new procedure for collection of the security charge at the airport has been introduced. All the airlines operating at Riga Airport, except RYANAIR, have agreed to include the security charge into their air fare. Those RYANAIR passengers who have bought their tickets after 1st January 2012 before departure must pay 7 euros or 4.92 lats. Transit and transfer passengers and infants under two years of age are released from payment of the security charge.

The security charge can still be paid:
• at RYANAIR ticket office of Riga Airport (in cash or by a bank payment card);
• at the airport services office „Welcome to Riga!” (Arrivals Sector E – in cash or by a bank payment card);
• when using your Mobilly account, send a mobile phone message ‘RIX’ to number 1859;
• on the airport website: www.riga-airport.com.
