Passengers requested to check the validity of their travel documents

In the summer season when people increasingly travel by air, Riga International Airport requests the passengers, before departure, to make sure that they have taken along all the necessary travel documents and that the documents are valid.

Before embarking on the air trip, it is necessary to check that the travel documents and entry visas, if such are required in the country of destination, are valid. It is also recommended to find out what validity term of the passport is required and whether an identity card is accepted as a travel document by the state you are going to.

Prior to coming to Latvia, the travellers must ascertain the validity of their travel documents, a visa, a residence permit issued by the Republic of Latvia or another Schengen member state, or an EU permanent resident’s residence permit, a health insurance policy and whether there are no legal obstacles for entry into the Republic of Latvia.

Riga International Airport reminds the passengers in the summer season to arrive at the airport two hours prior to the departure of their flight so as to have sufficient time for settling all the necessary formalities.

The information on the procedure of crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia is available on the website of the State Border Guard Useful travel information can also be found on the websites of airlines and the embassies of the countries of destination.

Riga International Airport is the leading air traffic hub of the Baltic countries.
