In 2010 RIGA International Airport welcomed 4 663 692 passengers or 15 percent (597 108 pax) more than in 2009 when 4 066 854 travellers were handled.
Last year 68 145 aircrafts were serviced or 13 percent more than in 2009 when 60 087 aircrafts were handled.
The airport in 2010 also handled 12 247 tons of various cargo, which was one third more than in 2009 (9 431 t).
„This year, at the expense of bigger capacity aircraft, the number of passengers may rise by five percent year on year. The number of flights in 2011 is estimated to grow by almost four percent as we intend to bring back some of the airlines that have left the airport,” said Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of RIGA International Airport.
In December 2010 RIGA International Airport handled 323 522 passengers, which is almost two percent (5 628 pax) more than in the same period of 2009 when 317 894 travellers were handled. The number of aircrafts and cargo volumes handled at the airport in December 2010 also grew year on year by almost 7 and 14 percent respectively.
