To provide local community residents, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders with the opportunity to express their views on Riga Airport’s Master Plan for 2025–2050 and its Environmental Report, a public consultation took place in November 2025. During this period, Riga Airport did not receive any objections or proposals from residents.

A total of 42 residents participated, both in person and remotely, in three public consultation meetings held in Jaunmārupe, Piņķi, and the Imanta neighborhood in Riga. The main topics of interest for participants were related to measures for reducing aircraft noise impact, the potential construction of a second runway in the future, access to the airport, and the progress of the Rail Baltica project.

During the public consultation period, in accordance with legal procedures, the airport also received opinions and letters from competent state institutions and cooperation partners, including the Nature Conservation Agency, the State Environmental Service, the Health Inspectorate, SIA “Eiropas dzelzceļa līnijas”, Ministry of Climate and Energy and the airport’s shareholder—the Ministry of Transport.

On 13 April 2026, the Master Plan was aligned with the company’s management board, and on 23 April it was approved by the supervisory board; therefore, it has been adopted and entered into force.

Public consultation meetings in Mārupe and Babīte are organised in cooperation with Mārupe Municipality.
