Today, on 21st December, Riga International Airport has broken the record of passenger traffic per calendar year and welcomed the airport’s five-millionth passenger Ms Dace Dižbite- Ose, arriving at the airport at 10:30 a.m. on an airBaltic flight from Oslo.

„Greeting of the five-millionth passenger is an event worth celebration not only for the lucky passenger, but also for the entire airport that has made another significant step forward in its development. With five million passengers welcomed per year we have come close to such airports as Warsaw and St Petersburg,” said Arnis Luhse, Chairman of the Board of Riga International Airport.

Riga International Airport presented the five-millionth passenger with the opportunity from now on to use the advantages provided to the airport clients by RIX Club privilege card.

The lucky passenger was also congratulated by the airport’s business partners – airBaltic gave her a trip for two persons in the business class to any of the destinations serviced by the carrier, a pair of airBaltic sports shoes and a calendar. The airport commercial space operator TAV Airports presented to the passenger a basket of various goods.

It should be noted that Riga International Airport welcomed its four-millionth passenger on 21 December 2009, three-millionth passenger – on 10 December 2007 and two-millionth passenger – on 17 October 2006 whereas the first million of passengers had been achieved by 13 December 2004.
