27/04/2009

In order for Ventspils Airport to begin servicing flights, SJSC Riga International Airport provided its assistance – prepared technical safety equipment and facilities – an X-ray belt, metal detectors, and informative signs, as well as ensured data transfer processes and computers with the necessary software. By allocating one fully equipped baggage-towing vehicle and two baggage carts, SJSC Riga International Airport is taking care of the technical operations at Ventspils Airport.

Until the beginning of June, the operations of Ventspils Airport will be ensured by the personnel of Riga Airport. The passengers will be serviced by three aviation security inspectors, who will perform baggage, personnel, and transportation security control, one flight check-in agent, one loading specialist, and one cargo handler. The personnel of Ventspils Airport will be training at the learning centre of SJSC Riga International Airport to acquire knowledge of client and flight servicing and will also learn about the aviation security requirements, and after successfully completing their examinations and practical training, they will take over the work at Ventspils Airport. Transportation to the airport for employees who are currently working at Ventspils Airport and will be working there until mid-June is ensured by Riga Airport.
