Riga Airport continues to operate as before
Airport terminals operate in the "red" mode, but for reasons of epidemiological safety, only passengers heading for their flight can enter the Airport departures terminal on presentation of a flight ticket or boarding pass and a valid Covid-19 vaccination, recovery or testing certificate.
We urge passengers to arrive at the Airport no later than two hours before the scheduled departure!
On the way to and from the Airport
During the curfew, from 21 October to 14 November, every day from 8pm to 5 am, when outside your place of residence or stay you must have a completed self-certification questionnaire and an identity document with you. In addition:
- If you have a flight during this time, you must be able to present a flight ticket;
- If you arrive in Riga during this time, then on the way from the Airport to your home or place of residence you must be able to present a flight ticket together with your self-certification form;
- If you are taking a passenger to or from the Airport who is going to or from a flight, or return home from such a trip, you must also be able to present a copy of the passenger's flight ticket.
For arriving passengers, self-certification questionnaires are available at the arrivals terminal. Please fill them in before leaving the Airport!
Safety measures in public transport, taxis and commercial transport by car
During the state of emergency, there is a mandatory requirement for passengers to wear face masks throughout their journey in public transport, taxis and journeys by commercial cars. Passengers must also observe a distance by following the distance signs in the vehicle (e.g., marked seats).
During the state of emergency, including during the curfew, the capacity of public transport in urban and suburban public transport may not exceed 50%.
Movement during the curfew
In order to be outside your place of residence during the curfew, you must have with you an identity document and a completed certificate (name, surname, personal identification number, address, reason and time of leaving the place of residence), which must be presented to the State Police or municipal police upon request. According to the government's decision, in cases where a person is away from his or her place of residence without a valid reason and is unable to present proof of the reason for leaving the place of residence, the State Police and municipal police will be entitled to impose a penalty.
Leaving home during the curfew is allowed for residents to travel to and from their place of work, including using a vehicle provided by the employer. In such cases, the certificate must include information about the employer (name, address, contact person, contact number).
You can also leave home to receive medical services, including veterinary services, and go to 24-hour pharmacies.
When entering Latvia, you will be able to go to your place of residence; when leaving – to a port, airport, bus station, railway station
Persons who have entered Latvia from abroad and are going to their place of residence or going to a port, airport, bus station or railway station to leave the country must have a ticket or other travel document. It is also allowed to meet a traveller returning from abroad and take him or her to the place of residence on presentation of a travel document.
Use of taxis during the curfew
During the curfew, you can also use a taxi or commercial passenger transport by car to get to your place of work primarily or to return to your place of residence, including from a port, airport, bus station and train station. It will also be possible to use taxi or commercial passenger transport services in urgent cases, for example, to get to a medical institution, to go to a pharmacy.
One passenger or members of the same household, or a passenger with a minor child or a person in need of assistance can travel in one car at the same time. This condition also applies to the commercial carriage of passengers by car.
Using a private car during the curfew
Only members of one household or two persons from different households are allowed to travel by a private car at the same time. When accompanying a minor or a person who needs the help of an assistant or who has objective difficulties in moving due to age or functional impairment, up to three persons from different households are allowed to be in a private vehicle.
Travel by private car is also allowed for people employed in the critical sectors, including rescue workers, media workers who work in the same unit, on secondment or shift and use one car to go to and from work. In such cases, face masks must be worn by all passengers.
Transit is not restricted
During the curfew, no restrictions are imposed on individuals and cargo carriers that transit through Latvia
