The construction of a solar panel park on the roof of the North Pier of Riga Airport will begin soon, which will ensure the production of electricity for the Airport's self-consumption for the needs of the terminal and its nearby infrastructure. The installed capacity of the solar power plant will exceed 700 kilowatts, allowing the Airport's own CO2 emissions to be reduced by 66 tonnes per year and thereby taking an important step towards the goal set in the company's sustainability strategy – zero emissions.
In the procurement procedure for constructing the solar panel park at the Airport, developing the construction design, author supervision, and construction, SIA “Industry Service Partner” was chosen as the contractor, concluding a contract worth 697,135 euros. All works are to be completed within 180 days. The Airport will implement the solar power plant construction project with its own budget funds.
